A Message from Pastor James….
Stewardship is much more than financial giving. It is the business of every single Christian. Stewardship is what every Christian does after we say, “YOU are Lord.” You see, stewardship is one of many faithful expressions of discipleship. Faithful stewardship recognizes that everything I am and everything I have is from God. This includes, and is not limited to: finances, time, energy, talents, etc.
Asking the church to get involved in stewardship is asking people to take more seriously their spiritual growth and maturity. Faithful stewardship is what maturing Christians do. This is an incredible opportunity. God has given us the opportunity to join Him at work. As we give of our time, energy, resources and talents to God, we become partners with God in the ministry of God! That’s incredible!
I encourage you to think about our participation in God’s ministry in a positive light. God has given us so much. God is not after our money. To think that demeans and belittles God. God is a rich God. He has no need for our money. God wants our hearts. So won’t you prayerfully consider how you might partner with God in his ministry at Trinity? God loves you. I can’t wait to see what God will do in our midst!

Trinity Presbyterian Church – What’s Next?
God placed Trinity Presbyterian Church on the corner of Nash and Main Street in The Colony, Texas where thousands of cars pass by our church everyday so that God can show our neighbors how much God loves them. The future is bright because we live in a community where over 90% of our neighbors are without a church home. We are here to turn that around.
Our future is your future. Come be a part of what God is doing to make a difference.

Trinity Presbyterian Church – The Early Years
Our church began in 1978 with the calling of our first pastor, Dr. Ron Salfen. From August until October of that year, announcements were placed on doors throughout the community and small get-aquainted group meetings spread the word of the new church. The first worship service was held in a doublewide trailer in what was at the time, Eastvale, now incorporated into The Colony. At the end of 1978 membership was 50.

That summer, the Old Men softball team was organized and a long-standing tradition of almost championship softball was born. Also note that the name has gradually taken on new meaning over the past 22 years, but the team is still growing strong!
The doublewide soon was bursting at the seams, so in August the congregation moved into a modular building on the borrowed property in Eastvale. The Presbytery, the generosity of the 20 families and a friend of the congregation(who purchased the land for our use), made the move possible. Sunday School classes expanded from 4-7!
In 1980 the congregation reached the goal of 100 members required to officially organize. The first Session was elected and Trinity Presbyterian Church – The Colony was officially chartered on November 16, 1980. Membership grew steadily as the area expanded. The First Presbyterian Church of Dallas provided the congregation with 4.6 acres of land at Nash and FM 423. Architect John Brown was tasked to design a master plan for a building on the permanent sight.
By June 1982 construction was underway. Blessings were answered with the first service in the new building on Easter Sunday, 1983.
Dr Salfen accepted the call to lead another church and in 1985 the congregation welcomed Rev. David Freehling as the new Pastor.
After 15 1/2 years of service to our congregation, the Rev. David Freehling accepted a call to lead United Presbyterian Church in Canon City, Colorado.
The Session commissioned the Vision Study Committee to engage in Bible Study, research the history of Trinity and the current local demographics, consider the results of the Visioning workshops and publish it’s findings in June 2001. In September 2001 the congregation elected the Pastor Nominating Committee(PNC).

The congregation unanimously & enthusiastically voted in favor of this recommendation. At the October Presbytery meeting in Denton, the formal call was completed by the Presbytery Executive before a large contingent of Trinity members, families and friends. A formal installation was held in early December 2002.

Membership, Maturity, Ministry, and Missionaries
The purpose of Trinity Presbyterian Church is summed up in the 4 M’s: Membership, Maturity, Ministry, and Mission. God is calling on all Christ-followers to not only show up, but to grow up. Our Maturity in the faith is demonstrated as we invest ourselves fully to the Ministry and the Mission of Jesus Christ because we are Members of His household.
Trinity Presbyterian Church seeks to do this by Growing new Christ-followers, and Growing faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
